I use Mote for student feedback, but I don’t require my students to have the extension installed because they don’t all use Chrome, and because my ESL students find it less stressful to respond to me by writing than by speaking. As well, if it doesn’t happen during class time, it doesn’t happen at all, and they can’t all be speaking to their computers at the same time in the classroom.
All that to say, I use the speech-to-text function when recording feedback for ESL students. When I click the translate button, it gives me a button to hear the text read aloud in a different language, but when the students are viewing my feedback, they don’t get that button to hear it translated. This is a bit unintuitive, as I expect when the button appears on my end, that it will appear on theirs, as well. Could it be possible to have the button appear on their end when I have chosen to translate my speech-to-text?
Funnily enough, it does appear at the top of the page for a millisecond while the page is loading, but then it disappears.
